Paint
Paint and decorate the walls but give a distinct style and special look to your room. You can paint the entire room the same color or use a bright and bold color to create an accent wall. If you decided to use wallpaper, you can get a stunning pattern or mural and give the whole space a vastly different feel than you could with paint.
You can choose different types of paint finishes based on how shiny you want the surface to be.

Matte Paint
The Matte Paint is sometimes called flat paint. Surfaces painted with Matte paint do not reflect the light well. Think blackboard. This type of paint is usually not a durable finish and gets easily damaged, even by regular cleaning. The advantage is that matte paint offers great coverage with fewer coats of paint. The waves on a wall, previous water damage or imperfections like a poorly fixed screw hole are less visible on the wall that is painted in matte. Matt paint is suitable for surfaces that people do not often touch, like the ceiling or the garage wall. It is best spray painted or roller applied.
Eggshell Paint
Eggshell finishes are versatile and preferred by many professional painters. They have the low gloss effect you see on an egg shell and will not give you a gaudy, shiny wall. Instead you get a rich sheen that covers imperfections. Eggshell paint is relatively durable. We prefer eggshell paints for low to medium traffic areas, like hallways, living rooms and foyer. The eggshell paint reflects almost no light and resists stains better than matte paint. It can be wiped with a wet cloth. As a result some people use it in bathrooms and children bedrooms too.
Satin Paint
One of the most popular paints are Satin paints. The Satin paint is quite comparable to or slightly better than the eggshell in ease of cleaning. The Satin paint is a little more shiny and glossier than eggshell so it adds more depth to small rooms and makes them look a bit bigger. The Satin Paint reflects a bit more light than the eggshell paint and have a soft shimmer like velvet. Due to ease of cleaning and the rich sheen, Satin paints are excellent for high-traffic areas like hallways, study rooms, children’s play areas, family rooms, bathrooms and the laundry. Applying the Satin Paint requires careful surface preparation. This paint shows that poorly repaired nail hole or rough brush stroke. So it is more costly to apply. The manufacturers typically put more binders and less pigment in the Satin Paint. That makes the Satin paint more durable, longer lasting and more forgiving when it comes to scuff marks, dents, and scratches.
Semi-gloss Paint
Semi-gloss paints are highly reflective and shiny. They project a luxurious radiant sheen that can resist mold, mildew and moisture. In certain areas of the bathroom or kitchen, the walls are exposed to humidity and splashes of water. You must be able to wipe those areas clean with great ease. In a kitchen, over time you will experience a buildup of grease from all that frying and cooking and smoke. The semi-gloss paint is a very durable paint and is resistant to build up of mold and mildew. These qualities make the semi-gloss paint the best choice for kitchens and bathrooms. It is also the perfect choice for baseboards and crown mouldings and window casings. Again: professional and patient surface preparation is necessary because the semi-gloss paint has a glossy finish that shows every imperfection on the wall or the wood. However the semi-gloss paint makes it much easier to wipe clean those shoe scuff marks from the baseboard or the accidental splash of the soup on the kitchen wall.
High-gloss Paint
If you are looking for the shiniest finish, you need to use a high-gloss paint. We do not recommend the application of high gloss paint in the house. Although the high-gloss paint is the most durable and mostly easily washable type of paint, it requires extensive prep work and it can show even the smallest of imperfections or dust that may be floating in the room at time of application. Therefore we recommend the use of high-gloss paint to be only applied in protected paint spray rooms on balusters, handrails, doors, mouldings and cabinets.
